A New Style | Sarah Moore - Hills District Portrait Photographer

A couple of days ago I came across a tutorial that had been featured on the FStoppers Facebook site. It was written by Phlearn, and was a tutorial on how to create Corporate Heads shots with a difference.

I was struck by the lighting of the images as well as the overall final feel.

I watched the instructional videos and then set about putting the instructions into practice on my own portraits.

I adore quirky portraits, portraits that tell a story about the person, and the overall final feel matches that perfectly.

I am so very happy how these turned out! I feel a series coming on :)

Thrift Shop Treasures | Sarah Moore - Hills District Portrait Photographer

Ever since I was little I have been fascinated with anything that had a history. Especially old books, cameras and the older generation. I love opening a book and smelling history, having an image fall out of the book, or finding a handwritten message written in the pages. To hold a camera in your hands that has captured someone else's precious memories over and over again.

My home is full of preloved treasures, stacks of books, oodles of cameras, piles of old named suitcases and crockery - I love crockery.

My kids, especially Ty has learned to love rummaging through Antique Stores and Thrift Shops. Today our adventures found two old cameras and a gorgeous leather camera bag.

Ty thought that the camera and bag looked they belonged to a spy.

Ty has had an absolute ball playing spy all afternoon with his cameras. He has learnt how to wind on the film (even though there isn't any in it at the moment) so that he can release the shutter, and roaming around our acres tonight framing shots and lighting them with a torch.

I love that bits of me are rubbing off on my children.

My Boy | Sarah Moore - Hills District Portrait Photographer

I take photos of my kids ALL the time, I am sure that they are totally over it. But I am unapologetic. You can NEVER have too many memories, images that capture those memories and turn them into keepsakes.

So this is a typical afternoon, in the rain, at the park, with my boy.

Be-Still My Heart | Sarah Moore - Hills District Portrait Photographer

My children are my joy, they make my heart skip a beat when I see them, they are my greatest and proudest achievement.

This is my boy, he is six years old and he has the most expressive face. I managed to convince him to have his photo taken and I am so glad that he did!

These are some of the most amazing photos that I have taken of him.

Simon and Bec - A Love Story | Sarah Moore - Hills District Portrait Photographer

Simon and Bec are getting married! These guys are so in love, and such fun to photograph :) It was such an incredible evening, with the sun peaking over the trees, a little smoke hanging around from the fires, and the most gorgeous setting at the Chapel Hill Retreat in the Blue Mountains.

I can't wait to photograph their wedding.

The Cagney Family | Sarah Moore - Hills District Portrait Photographer

Say hello to the Cagney family - we had loads of giggles on a hot, smoky, Sunday afternoon. We spotted a fox in the bush, sheep and a horse and were inundated by flies - but we had a ball. Carolyn and Patrick you make cute kids!
